In May of 2004 Common Ground hosted one of 4 stops in Canada for the Es Footwear tour through Canada. When I showed up at 10:30 am (thinking I was early) there were already about 40 kids there. Some had tents set up from the night before… Anyways, by 1:00 in the afternoon, just hours before the demo, there were some 1200 kids hanging around skating abdown up. A little out of control, seeing as we were expecting… Well, I didn’t know what to expect. Es is huge, but how was I supposed to know?

In fact there were so many people that we couldn’t let everyone in…

Some were visibly annoyed, but for the most part people were having a good time.

It was so hectic inside that it was hard to make out anything, and shooting photos was near pointless because of the overpowering crowd and the heat they generated. The team kept their spirits up and managed to sign autographs for everyone… (with the occasional break to hit up some NBA Showtime in the back room…)

Autographs lasted for hours….
